Historic perception has not been overly kind to President Gerald Ford, and I was very young, but my greatest memory of his tenure is the way he insisted we come together to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of our Nation's Independence. We don't need elected leaders to explain to us the importance of freedom and independence. Young or old, liberal or conservative, legal or illegal, please join us this week fifty years later and celebrate these ideals!
